1. Puzzle and Laser Cut Tag

Laser Cutter and Illustrator:

As a means of learning how to use the laser cutter and Adobe Illustrator, we'll be making a laser cut name tag that can be zip-tied onto your flash drive or backpack. A flash drive will then be used all year for transferring files to our digital fabrication tools. Or maybe you'd just to like to label your backpack in a way that says, "I know the laser cutter, and I'm not afraid to use it."

Parameters: Your name tag should fit within a 70 mm x 50 mm rectangle and have rounded corners. It should have a 4 mm hole that is at least 4 mm from the edge for the zip tie. It should have your first and last name. You should also include a logo of your own design. If this is for your own flash drive, add your block.

For the Epilog Laser, it will "cut" any lines that are 0.04 mm thick or less. Anything wider than that will be engraved. Your text should be turned into "outlines." This will ensure that the text you choose works on any computer.

This will contain a picture of your puzzle and your laser cut tag.

For the puzzle, describe all the tools you used, what they did, and how you found their use. How easy or hard were the steps? How do you feel about the quality of your product?

For the laser cut tag, what did you learn about Illustrator? What did you learn about the laser cutter? Have you had any past experience with this type of creation? How do you think you could use the laser cutter in a future project?
