Greetings,
We are excited to announce that on Thursday, September 2nd, Teaching & Learning will be hosting Benchmark Education for virtual training sessions to support our recently purchased Writer’s Workshop resource. As you know, this training was put on pause as we navigated, not only the implementation of Reader’s Workshop, but also the effects of the pandemic.
The September 2nd virtual training will be available to all teachers (Classroom Teachers, EL Specialists, Digital Learning Specialists, Learning Specialists, Special Education Resource Teachers and IDSS Coaches) who teach or support the writing process. The training will be approximately 3 hours in length. In the fall we will provide further communication and will inform you of your identified virtual training time slot.
The intent of the training is to support you in the implementation of the Writer’s Workshop resource including the use of the Writer’s Workshop portion of Benchmark Universe. Highlights of the training will include the following:
Overview of the instructional design of Benchmark Writer’s Workshop resource
Understanding of the Writer’s Workshop model, rituals & routines and the components of the writing mini-lesson
Understanding of the writing process and how to confer with students in a productive and supportive manner
We are looking forward to our upcoming new learning! Thank you again for your continued committed efforts in supporting our students and families!
If you have questions please let us know!
Best,
Sandy Giorgi
