Math Resource Review

During the past several years, the District Math Leadership Team (DMLT) has been planning for the implementation of the 2022 MN Academic Math Standards.  The timeline for full implementation is the 2027-2028 school year.  This implementation timeline aligns to the guidance from the MN Department of Education and the release of the new MCA-IV Math assessment in the spring of 2028.

As part of the K-5 math standards review process, members of the District Math Leadership Team across the district in grades K-5 participated in a number of field tests to narrow down the selection of potential district-wide, core math resources. Their feedback from this process has been invaluable. 

Next steps include:  providing community members and K-5 staff the opportunity to review these potential resources and give feedback as it relates to the selection process. Staff may access additional information and provide feedback to this process, The window to provide feedback will be open through April 26.

Finally, on May 2, 2024, the full District Math Leadership Team will participate in formal presentations where each of the resources will be showcased.  The team will also utilize the feedback from the field test teachers, staff, and community members, in order to recommend a district-wide core science resource for adoption.

Training on the usage of the new materials will be provided to staff in grades 4-5 during the fall and throughout the 2024-2025 school year.

Full implementation for grades 4-5 is scheduled for the 2024-2025 school year. 

Training and implementation for grades K-3 will take place in the 2025-2026 school year. 

This staggered approach is designed to support the implementation of the READ Act training.  Full implementation of the 2022 MN Academic Math Standards, scope & sequence, and standards based grading practices will occur in the 2027-2028 school year along with the release of the new MCA-IV Math assessment in the spring of 2028.
