In Lakeville Area Schools, we believe elementary art classrooms foster the creation of lifelong learners who recognize the value of artistic process and intent.  All young artists  learn best in an environment that nurtures visual and media art appreciation and the joy of creativity.  

We believe that Elementary Art  is dedicated to the following values:

• Art is creative.   Young artists  engage with various tools and materials to evolve their personal creativity and ideation abilities.

• Art is innate.   Young artists access their joyous, creative  nature while developing critical thinking skills and self-confidence.

• Art is inclusive. Young artists are immersed in an inclusive classroom that allows students of all abilities to engage in self-awareness through the creation of art that expresses their personal cultural experiences and knowledge.

• Art is reflective.  Young artists present and  reflect on their personal stories to show growth over time of their unique artistic expressions using learned vocabulary and  through the act of revision. 

• Art is practiced. Young artists learn that art is an active process resulting from hard work, originality, and learned skills
