In Lakeville Area Schools, we believe elementary school counselors are uniquely trained to recognize and respond to student’s social, emotional and academic needs. Elementary School Counselors are student-centered and build the foundation for today’s diverse learners. Elementary School Counselors believe that every student should have access to a school counseling program in which every child can learn and succeed.

School Counselors promote well-being. We recognize that mental health needs can have a significant impact on student academic, career and social/emotional and behavioral success.
School Counselors prevent and intervene. We identify needs, provide community-based resources and facilitate teaching opportunities to best support the whole child.
School Counselors are inclusive. We understand the impact of cultural, social and environmental influences on student success and opportunities.
School Counselors are collaborative. We collaborate by involving students, families, teachers, administrators, other school staff and our community to promote student success.
School Counselors promote autonomy and self-discovery. We encourage self-awareness in order for children to recognize their needs and utilize self-advocacy.
School Counselors are data driven. We understand that consistently reviewing and using data is essential to ensuring equitable services.
