OUR VALUES - Friendship - Honesty - Kindness - Respect - Trust
We started our new history topic - WW2
We have looked at how the war started again after the WW1, what countries where involved, who were the Allies and the Axis and what preparations Britain took on the lead up to WW2.
We have also started our class novel - The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas.
North Coast Martial Arts offered Primary 7 a Kung Fu taster session. Everyone enjoyed learning about Kung Fu and taking part. The children took flyers home with information where classes take place if they want to go along.
We have loved Ness Castle’s first STEM week.
We started the week looking at construction and engineering using kits from the UHI which Ana showed us how to use and set us some challenges; we also took part in the national live STEM show run by the BBC. Our first class debate took place on Tuesday about self-driving cars, the class did an amazing job backing up their opinions with facts and putting accross excellent arguments. On Wednesday, Morgan Sindall shared with us the story of construction and being sustainable as a business, while having fun den building. Ana returned to teach us about electricity and creating successful circuits using Snap circuit kits. On Thursday, Stuart from Inverness Medical came in to discuss the ups and downs of AI and taught us how we can use it creatively. Ask them about our story about a crazy panda eating a cupcake in space on an asteroid with a cat on him, and the song to match it. We were very lucky to have a visit from the Cosmos Planetarium; were we lay beneath the stars learning about space exploration.
Throughout the week they have been working towards becoming STEM leaders. The class set up a science play area in our music room for all the classes to visit and explore different stations. Primary 7s went along to support and guide the younger children in their play. The class have also been doing drone demonstrations to show off their flying skills and ability to complete an obstacle course with the drone.

DEBATE TIME - Should our town centre be for self-driving cars only?
WORLD BOOK DAY P6&7
Both classes took part in the National World Book Day Quiz hosted by some famous faces. They all worked well together, achieving some great scores.
Then we had fun with our own World Book Day blooket quiz.
World Book Day is this Thursday. To start the week off we listened to a live lesson with author, Liz Pichon, talking about her Tom Gates books and her illustrations.
This afternoon, for whole school 'drop & read' we joined P1s, to spend time reading books with them.
AIR RACE CHALLENGE
The teams worked out how to get the drones in the air after a lot of tries, but definitely still need to work on their flying skills!
Next week is trying to guide the drones through obstacle courses, so will need good accuracy and control.
The teams researched careers in aviation and displayed the information they found on a poster.
Ness Castle Driving Range - we took our golf lessons outside today to practice our swing and accuracy of hitting the ball. There is some great golfers in the making!
AIR RACE CHALLENGE has started! This is being run by Aero Space Kinross, where we will engage with lots of activities and challenges.
Our first challenge was to find out about careers in aviation and what skills and qualifications they need.
Then we made a class charter of flying rules we must follow when we are using the drones over the next term.
We are looking forward to learning how to fly the drones!
Well done to Farrah, Amelia and Liam for being chosen to read their Scots poetry to the rest of the school.
All three did an excellent job.
NESS CASTLE'S VERY OWN CRAZY GOLF!
In PE we have been looking at the skills needed to play golf. We have been practising our putting technique in the hall. To bring in our creativity we worked in small groups to design our own hole, which then became part of the whole course.
They had so much fun showing the rest of the class their design and then getting to try everyone elses out.
BURNS TABLE DISPLAYS
As a treat for doing an amazing job of their assembly, I thought it would be lovely way to end the week trying out their hand at floristry.
I was amazed at how well they turned out. They showed a great eye to detail and demonstrated their creativity.
Well done Primary 7 on an excellent assembly. Following our learning we have been doing with Safe strong & Free, we decided to share with the school an important message - stand up to bullying and celebrate we are all different.
Each group decided their topic, and wrote and designed their own slides. Then presented their part to the rest of school and families.
It was a great success!
Scots Artwork
We enjoyed finding out if we had our own family tartan and then created our own tartan kilts. We added some legs of all shapes and sizes, lots of hairy ones!
Cara, our Pets As Therapy dog, has started coming in for her weekly visits. Everyone has enjoyed petting for soft fluffy hair. She is very cute!
Welcome to Term 3
