OUR VALUES - Friendship - Honesty - Kindness - Respect - Trust
Today we had our first visit from Cara the labradoodle! Cara is a Pet Therapy Dog. Her owner Rita whoe took her in to see us today, told us all about what Cara likes and what type of training Cara had to do to be able to become a therapy dog. She also told us that the name Cara means "Friend" which is very fitting as Cara was such a lovely and friendly dog. P1 came up with words like calm and relaxing and loved to describe how being with Cara made them feel. Children were able to observe from a distance and then come to greet Cara in a small group if they wished. We are looking forward to reading some stories to Cara when she comes to visit us next time!
In maths we have been learning to count in 2s! We made lego towers in groups of 2 to help us remember!
World Book Day Celebrations. We loved paired reading witu our P7 Buddies! Good evening,
Primary 1 are working on learning a Scots poem as part of our Scotland topic this term and to help us celebrate in the run up to Burns Night.
We are learning “Mince and Tatties” by JK Annand.
We have been practising our Scots words and learning what they mean.
3 pupils from Primary 1M and Primary 1S will have the opportunity to perform Mince and Tatties at a whole school assembly which will take place on Friday 30th of January.
The words of the poem can be found on the PDF below. A paper copy has also gone home in homework or bags this week.
We ask that you take some time to practise the poem with your child at home to help them become confident in sharing the poem.
This will very much support the class teacher in getting them ready for performing at assembly, if this is something they wish to take part in.
We ask that children are ready to perform the poem in class by Friday 23rd of January so class teachers can pick 3 pupils to take part in assembly the following week.
You can also use the video link below to listen to the poem together at home: https://youtu.be/XlEEyERwrjU?feature=shared
Thank you for your support with this exciting job!
