OUR VALUES - Friendship - Honesty - Kindness - Respect - Trust
Here is our Nessie Knight for having a super positive attitude towards all of his learning the week - well done!
This week we started our writing session by not actually doing any writing... Our task was to work as a class team to use our Descriptive Bubbles to uplevel boring sentences by filling them full of exciting adjectives and adverbs.
We also had our super busy Wednesday when we started the day with Karen from Feis. We enjoyed playing percussion instruments while singing our chosen Gaelic song. We then had our Ross County football session before lunch. We are showing so much more confidence during the small sided games. During Art this week, we used pencil, pastels and chalk to create some super vibrant and detailed rainforest snakes.
We had a big team and class discussion during a Health and Wellbeing lesson about what makes a good classmate and how we can support one another. We then discussed what makes a good classroom, playground and local community. It was great to see that so much of our discussion centred around our School Values - trust, kindness, friendship, honesty and respect. We also came up with some great links to our agreed expectations on our Class Charter. We worked together on the shared agreement that the expectations we have in school are equally as important in the playground and beyond into our school community.
The classroom got a little messy on Friday! The carpet was still visible in places so it could have been worse! While listening to our class novel, The Explorer, we learned that the characters found a much needed natural, man made shelter in the rainforest. We then planned out and designed our own versions before using junk modelling materials to build our own. We added lots of detail such as 'leaves' and 'vines' to help demonstrate our understanding of what materials we know would be available in the Amazon Rainforest.
Here is our Nessie Knight for excellent listening and great participation in Feis music this week - well done!
Here is our Nessie Knight for being super trustworthy, kind and respectful in class - well done!
Well what a super busy start to P5! It has been lovely to see everyone settle in to our new room so well while trying hard with new Expectations. New morning routines are well underway, where we have a different focus each day of the week. This included reading, writing, building and creativity. This allows us to work with others and take part in activities which we may not normally chose to.
We have worked well together to plan and create our Class Charter which includes the Expectations we all agree to to make our classroom a kind, fun and successful place.
We have been super lucky to have so many visitors providing music, football and drumming sessions. Every Wednesday this term we have Karen, our Feis music teacher, lead Gaelic and Scottish music sessions. We have also had our first Ross County football session too. Last Thursday, we had a fantastic drumming session with P6, focusing on beat and rhythm.
During Literacy we have had a task focus on our class novel 'The Explorer' allowing us to find out more about the Amazon Rainforest. This inspired our Class Charter and we are looking forward to building survival shelters too. We also worked in teams to create class lists of adjectives in writing, based on the 'descriptive bubble' . This means we have a great bank of exciting adjectives to help enhance our writing.
