OUR VALUES - Friendship - Honesty - Kindness - Respect - Trust
As we approach St Andrews day, we have been exploring elements of the Scottish Arts and Artists.
We first looked at the contemporary artist Gillian Kyle. She is famous for bold bright and quirky design featuring iconic Scottish images. We created these amazing Irn Bru pictures.
We then looked at the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh. He uses lots of geometric lines and angles and floral patterns we recreated his famous rose image and added our own thistles.
Finally we have explored the tradition of Scottish weaving and Textile Art. We have produced these wonderful textile pieces in preparation for a secret project later in the term.
Happy St Andrew's day when it comes.

P6 Class Assembly
I was ever so proud of every single member of P6 for researching, writing, producing and delivering a respectful and poignant remembrance assembly on 14th November.
You would never know that they were extremely nervous during our final rehearsal as on the day they all spoke clearly and confidently in front of a large audience made up of their family, friends and peers. As the smallest class in school we were all anxious that our singing might be a bit quiet , but with only 18 pupils on the day they sang really well!
During the week, P6 were in charge of selling poppies throughout the school in aid of Poppy Scotland and were very interested to find out how this money is used today to help veterans and projects across the country.
We thought our Poppy Cascade in the entrance hall was very effective and we hope you had a chance to see it.
I am returning to school tomorrow follwing my bereavement leave and looking forward to the second half of the term
Best wishes,
Pauline

Nessie Arrested - Wide Spread Shock Across Ness Castle Primary! (Community Police Visit)
We were delighted to welcome our community police officers to P6 recently. This visit not only provided an opportunity to foster positive relationships but also gave P6 an insight into the role of the Community Police Unit and the role of the Police in general as part of our learning in the World of Work elements of our curriculum. The focus was very much on keeping us safe although we did have some interesting questions on "bad guys" and "gun fights"!
As you can see Nessie was happy to join in the fun!
VEXGO
Everyone enjoyed their first session exploring VEXGO construction. They showed good team work, while developing their STEM skills. We are looking forward to finishing building our robots later in the week and having a race off to see what robot will win!!
We finally managed to get our postponed author visit last week. Barbara Henderson a local author who wrote our class novel "Rivet Boy" came to visit us last Tuesday.
We learnt so much about the process of writing, editing and publishing a novel. We had great fun with Barbara and she really helped to bring Rivet Boy to life!
Termly Learning Term2
Welcome to Term 2
Welcome to term 2.
We have a very busy term ahead with lots of exciting learning and events planned and that is not even taking the curly "C" word into consideration. We are all very excited about our social dancing block nearer the big day! I am sure it will be here before we know it.
We have lots to look forward to as part of our Winter Celebrations topic. Halloween has brought great excitement and we look forward to Bonfire Night next week. We will be carrying out a mini topic on Remembrance day and will also be looking at Bodhi Day and Hannukah before the big event.
Best wishes
