Well done Maple - What a fantastic role model to the rest of our class! :)
Miss Munro
This week we have been learning about the number 2 and 3 in numeracy. We have been practising our number formation as both number 2 and 3 can be tricky numbers to form.
We read "How to Hide a Lion" and then we create our own lion faces using orange and yellow paper. We are doing all the cutting out ourselves to practise our scissor skills!
We also read a story called "We Are All Different." We discussed how everyone is different and used the word diversirty and inclusion to discuss these differences but to always ensure everyone is still included! We then made a start on painting our own self portraits.
Our Week 3 Nessie Knight of Primary 1M was Lily-Mai! Lily-Mai got her Nessie Knight for using fantastic problem solving skills to build a number of tricky jigsaws this week, and creating an amazing Number 1 Number block as part of our learning in numeracy.
Well done Lily-Mai!
WE ARE NUMBER ONE!
This week as part of our numeracy focus we have been learning about number 1! We have learning how to recognise, count and make number one in different ways, as well as practising our number formation too! We have also been doing lots of mark making using pens, paint, oil pastles and more! Not to mention using fanstastic solving problem skills to put together those tricky jigsaw puzzles too! What a fantastic week full of amazing learning! Well done team P1M! :) Check out the photos below for a snapshot of our learning!
Have a lovely restful weekend!

Miss Munro :)
Our P1M class charter is coming together this week! We talked about how a class charter makes sure we stay safe, healthy and happy in the classroom and in school.
We have agreed on some things that we should all be doing in order to make sure we all stay safe, healthy and happy. They include listening to others, using kind hands and feet, looking after our classroom resources, being kind and respectful to everyone in our school, keeping our classroom space tidy and always trying our very best!
We read the story - Racoon and the Hot Air Balloon and we decided to create our own hot air balloons to add to the class charter wall.
We also discussed how all children have rights as (right holders) and that it is the job of the adults (duty bearers) to ensure that their rights are always protected.
There are still a couple of hot air balloons to be added to our wall once they are completed!
We had THE BEST afternoon today - learning all about how to play the drums! We had to listen well to follow the instructions and learn the songs that went alongside the drumming. We practised drumming soft to make quiet sounds and hard to make loud sounds. We had to watch different body movements from someone in the middle and adjust our drumming style appropriately. It was very loud at times but we got used to it and P1 had an absolute ball during our drumming to rock songs at the end of the session! A big thank you to parent council for paying for such an awesome back to school event! Future rockstars coming our way! Check out the photos below!
Lots of team work going on this week in P1! Builiding jigsaws, playing dice games and building fantastic block models! We have been working on listening to each other and taking turns when we are playing and building together.
We have been learning all about the concept of ZERO and how that also means NOTHING or NONE! Today we were practising our number formation using peg boards, stones and shells and cubes! Check out our super cool zeros!
Our first Nessie Knight of P1M is Harris!
Harris for his Nessie Knighthood for fantastic listening skills when we are reading a story, always following instructions and fantastic sharing of resources with peers and tidying up our classroom this week!
What a absolute super star! Keep being amazing Harris and highlighting all of our school values in your fantastic attitude in the classroom!
Miss Munro :)
We were very busy this week in Primary 1!
We were building pictures with tiles, we were learning to share and play with others with the cars, we were mark making with paint brushes and glitter, we were practising our fine motor skills building shapes with the pegs and threading letters, we took turns playing games and some of us were even ordering numbers up to 5!
I don't know about you guys... but I am EXHAUSTED!
Can't wait for more fun and learning through play in P1 next week!
Miss Munro :)
Please find the school menu to the left! It can be helpful to confirm lunch choices with your child prior to coming into school in the morning, or even the night before. :)
Check Out out first day of P1 Photos below! Don't we look smart!
Primary 1 have had a fantastic first week getting to know our new classroom and routines.
A few reminders:
Please label everything. We have already got jumpers that have no names on them.
Please remember to provide your child with a snack every day for playtime.
PE - for term 1 - will take place on a Monday and a Friday - There is typo in the Nessie Natter newsletter regarding this - We DO NOT have PE on Thursdays.
Miss Munro will be teaching Mon-Thurs and Miss McLean will teach on a Friday.
It can be helpful to discuss the lunch choices with your child before coming to school - especially if they have specific dietary requirements such as vegitarain. I will post a copy of the lunch menu above so it is available to you.
With regards to photos posted on our school blog - we must have parental permisson for photos to be shared online. If your first day photo does not appear on the blog and you wish your child to have permission to appear on our blog, please contact the school office to update your permissions.
A massive WELL DONE to all of P1M this week for absolutely smashing starting P1! You were all superstars!
Looking forward to seeing all those lovely faces again on Monday!
Happy Weekend!
Miss Munro :)
