We are delighted to announce that for the academic year 2026–2027, our Year 5 residential visit will be to Abernant Lake – Manor Adventure, set in the beautiful surroundings of the Brecon Beacons.
This promises to be an unforgettable experience for our learners, packed with adventure, challenge and fun. Pupils will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of exciting outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking, raft building, high ropes, team challenges and problem-solving tasks, all led by experienced instructors in a safe and supportive environment.
At Ysgol Y Bryn, we are incredibly proud to offer enriching opportunities such as residential visits, which help children to grow in confidence, resilience and independence. These experiences allow learners to develop important life skills, strengthen friendships and create lasting memories beyond the classroom.
Our Year 5 residential is always a highlight of the school year, and we are thrilled to be able to provide another fantastic opportunity for our pupils in 2026–2027. We know this will be an experience they will remember for many years to come.
Wednesday 2nd December – Friday 4th December 2026
Abernant Lake is located on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park, providing a stunning natural setting for outdoor learning and adventure. The centre offers:
Comfortable dormitory-style accommodation
On-site dining facilities with all meals included
Fully qualified instructors leading activities
A safe, well-established environment for primary-aged pupils
During their stay, pupils will take part in a range of exciting and challenging experiences, which may include:
High ropes and climbing challenges
Water-based activities (including kayaking, weather dependent)
Archery and target sports
Team-building and problem-solving tasks
Outdoor adventure and exploration
All activities are carefully supervised, with trained instructors and school staff supporting the children throughout the visit.
This residential experience plays an important role in supporting children’s personal development. It helps pupils to:
Build confidence and independence
Develop resilience and teamwork
Strengthen friendships and social skills
Experience learning in a real-life outdoor environment
For many children, this becomes one of the most memorable parts of their primary school journey.
The total cost of the visit is:
£145 per pupil (2 nights)
This includes:
