Taking Measured Risks, Building Resilience

Children are naturally curious and love to explore — and our outdoor provision supports them to take measured risks in a safe, supported way. Whether it’s climbing, constructing, exploring nature or solving a challenge, pupils are encouraged to try new things, bounce back from mistakes, and grow in resilience and confidence.

The ‘Pili Pala’ Challenge Approach

A unique feature of our outdoor learning is the Pili Pala Challenge. Pupils complete tasks in different learning areas to earn coloured lollipop sticks — each representing a zone or skill. This child-led approach encourages independence, curiosity and creativity while helping pupils apply their classroom learning in a real-world context.
