At Ysgol Y Bryn, we take attendance and safeguarding seriously. It is vital that we know the reason for a child’s absence as early as possible each day.
If your child is going to be absent from school, please call us on 01554 821124 and leave a message on the school’s answerphone before 9:00 a.m. You must clearly state:
Your child’s name
Their class
The reason for the absence
This helps us ensure all pupils are safe and accounted for.
If your child has a medical appointment (e.g. doctor, dentist, hospital), please inform us in advance.
We kindly ask that you provide a medical note or letter as evidence — this could be:
A hospital appointment letter
A GP confirmation slip or note
A screenshot or photo of a digital appointment confirmation
This helps us record the absence accurately and avoid unnecessary follow-up.
If no reason is given for your child’s absence:
You will receive a text message from the school
An ‘Unauthorised’ mark will be recorded in the register
We urge all parents and carers to keep us informed. Regular attendance is essential for your child’s learning, progress, and wellbeing.
