We are excited to share one of the most successful new projects launched at Ysgol y Bryn this year – Film Fortnight, known to us all as the Bryn BAFTAS.
Film Fortnight is a whole-school creative project where classes work together to plan, script, film and edit their own short movies. Throughout the fortnight, learners take on a range of important roles such as actors, directors, camera operators, editors and producers, giving every child the opportunity to shine and contribute their own talents.
The project has received excellent feedback from staff, children and parents, and we are delighted to announce that Film Fortnight will now become a permanent part of our yearly school calendar.
Film Fortnight provides exciting and authentic learning opportunities across the curriculum. Through Expressive Arts, children develop creativity, performance skills, storytelling and confidence. Through Digital Competence, learners use cameras, iPads and editing software to create their final productions, while also developing valuable teamwork, problem-solving and communication skills. The project allows children to apply their learning in a meaningful, real-life context and creates memories that will last a lifetime.
The highlight of the project was our very own Bryn BAFTAS Awards Ceremony. Children and staff dressed to impress for the red carpet before gathering for a special film premiere to watch the fantastic movies created across the school. After the screenings, children returned to their classes to vote for their favourites, before awards were presented for a range of categories. The celebration ended with the announcement of the overall winner of the Bryn BAFTAS 2026.
We are incredibly proud of the creativity, enthusiasm and teamwork shown by all of our learners and staff throughout this project, and we cannot wait for next year’s Bryn BAFTAS!
