At Ysgol Y Bryn, we’re proud to have an active and supportive Parent, Teacher and Community Association (PTCA). The PTCA plays a vital role in school life, bringing together families, staff and the wider community to help enrich the experience of every child.
The PTCA is a volunteer group made up of parents, carers, staff and community members who work together to support the school through:
Organising fundraising events
Helping run school activities and celebrations
Strengthening links between school and home
Enhancing our school environment and resources
It’s a great way to be involved in your child’s education and make a positive difference to the whole school community.
Throughout the year, the PTCA plans and runs a wide range of events, including:
Christmas and summer fayres
Discos and themed parties
Raffles and sponsored events
Uniform swaps and sales
Support with school trips, refreshments and shows
Funds raised by the PTCA go directly back into school — helping us purchase resources, enhance the learning environment, and create exciting experiences for the children.
The PTCA:
Builds a sense of community and belonging
Supports school improvement through fundraising
Gives parents and carers a voice in school events
Brings people together in fun and meaningful ways
Helps create lasting memories for pupils and families
Whether it's helping at an event, sharing ideas, or attending meetings, every contribution makes a difference.
Everyone is welcome to join the PTCA — whether you’re a parent, carer, grandparent, local business owner or friend of the school. You can be involved as much or as little as you’re able. Opportunities include:
Helping at events
Attending PTCA meetings
Sharing skills or services
Supporting from home (e.g. baking, designing posters)
If you’d like to join or find out more, please contact the school office or speak to a member of the PTCA team — we’d love to hear from you!
The Ysgol Y Bryn PTCA is made up of a group of dedicated volunteers who give their time, energy, and ideas to support our school. Each member plays a vital role in helping to organise events, fundraise, and strengthen the partnership between school, home and community.
To ensure that the PTCA is inclusive, respectful and works effectively as a team, all members agree to follow our PTCA Code of Conduct. This sets out the standards we expect from everyone involved and helps create a positive, professional and welcoming atmosphere.
Our PTCA Code of Conduct outlines clear expectations in the following areas:
Professionalism and Respect
Members agree to communicate positively, listen respectfully, give constructive feedback, and maintain confidentiality.
Commitment to Purpose
All actions should align with the PTCA’s mission: to enhance the educational experience for all pupils and support school priorities.
Constructive Participation
Members are expected to attend meetings regularly, contribute ideas, and support PTCA events and initiatives wherever possible.
Meeting Conduct
Discussions follow a set agenda, with respectful communication and no personal attacks or disruptions.
Respecting School Staff and Policies
Members work in partnership with staff, support school policies, and understand their role in complementing — not influencing — teaching and school decisions.
Promoting Inclusivity and Diversity
The PTCA is open to everyone and committed to creating a welcoming environment for all families.
Safeguarding and Pupil Wellbeing
All PTCA activities must prioritise the safety and wellbeing of pupils, with clear boundaries and safeguarding practices in place.
Social Media and Public Representation
Members agree to use social media responsibly and never speak on behalf of the school or PTCA without permission.
Accountability
Members are expected to reflect on their behaviour, accept responsibility for their actions, and engage in regular reviews of the Code of Conduct.
All PTCA committee members are asked to sign the Code of Conduct each year. This agreement ensures that the PTCA operates with professionalism, shared purpose, and mutual respect — making it a positive and successful part of our school community.
If you'd like to get involved or learn more about our PTCA's work, please contact the school or speak to a current committee member. We'd love to welcome you!
