Module 1
This module, we were posed the question, 'Why is Jesus inspiring to some people?' We used a range of sources to help us answer the question.
In lesson 1, we listened to the Lord's Prayer and thought about the message it sends Christians. We thought about the ways it encouraged Christians to be kind, forgiving and grateful.
In our second lesson, we acted out two well known parables; 'the two debtors' and 'The Unforgiving Servant'. We made connections between the messages Jesus was sharing and how Christains live their lives now.
Module 2
This module we sought to answer the question, ' Why are festivals important to religious communities?' which we did by looking closely at a number or relgious festivals.
First, we learnt about Diwali's origin story, the ways in which multipe religions celebrate it and why. We also created our own rangoli patterns and thought about why this celebration is important to those who celebrate it.
Next, we learnt and Pesach (also known as Passover) by using a range of resources. We then recrated tge Pesach plate and indentified the importance of each compontent. We also begain to recognise and make links betwen this festival and others.
Then we thought about the importance of Christmas for Christians and the symbols and traditions celebrated during this period. We created advent calendars containing the most significant symbols.
Our favourite lesson was comparing festivals through art. We created Christingles, scratch rangoli patterns, decorated and ate Matzah and created our own advent calendars with symbols significant to us. We then used all the knowledge we had gained to help us answer why festivals are so important to religious communities.
