Module 1
Tennis:
In our first Secondary PE lesson we were looking at how we hold a tennis racket correctly and the different types of grips we can use (front hand and back hand). We were then practicing how to hold them whilst moving around the hall trying to dodge other children. Finally we started to bounce a ball on our racket using the different grips.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Outdoor Adventurous Activities:
Our first lesson of OAA was working as a team. We had to collect a range of equipment whilst working as a team. We had to come up with a clear strategy and then evaluate whether it worked well and adjust it for the next round.
NC: take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
Tennis:
In this lesson, we were looking at how we can keep control of the ball whilst moving. We had to decided to try and keep the ball on our racket still or bounce it up and down. We then had races against other groups to see who had the better technique.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
Our OAA lesson was based on identifying symbols and reading a map. We worked as a team to collect a range of coloured equipment which was scattered around the playground and had to collect it in the right order and lay it out so it match their map.
NC: take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
Tennis:
For our third lesson, we were starting to practice how to control a bouncing ball with our tennis racket. We had to get into "ready position" and then keep the ball under control using our different grips. We finished off, by playing a mini game where we had to hit a ball and our partners needed to get it back to the area as quick as possible.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
During our OAA lesson, we had to go and collect different symbols that represented different real life features on a map. We needed to go and collect the symbol and the find it on the key. After we had identified the symbol we had to go back out and find the right feature and out them together. the first team to find all of the symbols and pair them up with the real life features they were the winners.
NC: take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
Tennis:
In todays lesson, we were looking at accuracy. We had to work with a partner and try and throw the ball into a area where my our partner was standing. This was to help with improving our hand and eye coordination. After we had practice throwing it into the area, we made the game harder by putting in a blocker (someone with a racket) who had to try and block the ball.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending.
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
In our lesson today we had to work as a team to get from one place to another whilst only stepping on equipment playing the game "the floor is lava". If any member of our team put nay part of their body into the "lava" then the whole team had to start again. After a few attmpts we were given a bit of time to talking as a group and make a plan. After we had made the plan we all had some more time to go and attempt to go and make it across the MUGA. Once everyone had attempted to get across the challenge was changed and we then had to get across but collect the equipment after us to make sure nothing was left out behind our group. The final challenge was to get a far as you can in a specific time period.
NC: take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
Tennis:
In this lesson we were practicing our hand and eye coordination doing "upies" and "downies" and if confident to alternate from front hand to back hand whilst doing it. After this, we had to move around the MUGA doing our upies and downies without bumping into other children. At the end of the lesson we had different races and games where we had to get away from people (whilst continuing to do our upies and downies). Next, we were put into pairs and had to try and pass the ball to each other with out it falling onto the floor. At the end of the session, we had a competition to see who could complete the circuit quickest without losing control of the ball.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Outdoor Adventurous Activities
Todays OAA lesson was all about build assult courses. We had to work asa group and design and then make an asult course for the rest of our class to complete. We had to use our great team work and communication skills to work together and make decision that were best fo rthe group. After designing and making it we had to go and try different assult course and then evauate the by giving feedback about the course.
NC: take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team
Module 2
Tag Rugby:
In this lesson we began by playing tag to help develop our changing of pace and direction skills. We then put our tags on and we had to replay the game but this time the catches had to pull our tags off. We then developed this game one more time and as well as running away for the catches with our tags on we then had to hold a ball in our hands and play the game again. After this, we played a game of "Robin Hood" where we had to go and collect the balls from the middle and take them back to our areas. After all the balls had been collected, we had to go and steal the from other areas without having our tags pulled off.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Dance:
Todays lesson was all about Dance. We had to listen to a piece of music (Matilda) and move around the hall doing actions and moves to the music. When the music stopped we had to freeze into a dance position. We then had to learn a speicific dance move "Box step" and then do it to a count of 4. After practicing the Box step we had to try and fit the Box steop into the rhyme of the tune. At the end of the session we were challenged to try and create a little sequence using the Box step to the tune.
NC: perform dances using a range of movement pattern

Tag Rugby:
We started our Tag rugby lesson by playing fishing and sharks. This game allowed us to practices our running and dodging as well as our line defending principles. We then did this game with a ball in our hands and practicing running away from a defender and trying to find space. We then began our Robin hood game to work on our ball handling skills.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Dance:
Todays lessons focused on learning a new skill "arabesque". We had to practice this skill and then try and build it into a sequence. We can do the skill facing dorward, to the side or even behind. This skill is an importnat element of our sequence and we had to amke sure we all could do it correctly.
NC: perform dances using a range of movement pattern

Tag Rugby:
Today in Tag Rugby we were running and passing with a ball. We had to run around the hall and when sir shouted a number we had to do a move. Number 1 was score a try, number 2 was do a pop pass and number 3 was a throw in the air and clap. This help recap our throwing and catching skills as well as develop them in a rugby environment. We then had to get into teams and we completed a number of challenges as a team. These included over and under, side to side and some relay races. All of these help build our skills and develop our ball handling.

Dance:
In Dance today we put all of our moves togtehr and began building our dance performance. We started off by using a prop (chair) and then dance around it. We then had to work together and create our sequence as a class. Everything we did was to an eight count to help us stay in time and keep to the rhyme.

Tag Rugby:
Today in Tag Rugby ,we started off by playing "Toilet Tag". In this game you had to run away from the taggers, who had the ball in their hands and if they had touched you with the ball you, you become stuck. To get free (unstuck) someone had to "flush the chain" pull your hand down so you could run off again. We then went and focused on our defending 1:1 and then as a group. We had to try and pull our opponents tags off. We finished the session with practicing our throwing by doing the line throwing drills.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Dance:
In this lesson we practised our performance. We had to make sure that we were doing it to the beat and keeping in time with the music. At the end of the lesson we were allowed to freestyle the last two 8 counts which allowed us to be really silly and funny.
NC: perform dances using a range of movement pattern
Module 3
Netball:
Today in Netball , we began by playing tag to help develop our changing of pace and direction skills. We started with recapping our throwing and catching skills from last term and work out different ways we can move the ball. This lead to us playing "piggy in the middle" and the person with the most points at the end of the time period got positive points.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Handball:
In this lesson, we started off by revisiting all of our ball skills we had learnt so far across our PE lesson from Reception. We then started watching a video of Handball and compared it to other team based sports. We finished off by playing short throwing games to earn points for our team.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Netball:
Today in Netball , we focused on the chest pass and understood the different skills that are used to do this pass successfully. We started the lesson doing a revisit of different ways we can move the ball and played the "piggy in the middle" game. We then go into pairs and rehearsed the actions we need to do for the chest pass. Once we had got an understanding of what we need to do we then started doing the passes whilst moving around the area. We finished the lesson doing 2 v 2s and whoever got 6 successful passes first won.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Handball:
In this lesson, we played line tag, to help understand the rules of only moving in specific areas. We then focused on correcting our catching position and how to deliver a successful under arm throw. To do this we had to make sure we had eye contact, called our partners name and had a clear area in between us. When we became confident at this, we started throwing and catching whilst moving in and around other groups.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Netball:
In todays lesson, we learn how to get away from a defend and find "space". We started the lesson by playing tag which allowed us to practice how to get away from people and look for space. We then focused on how we can get free from opponents and the different techniques we can use to do this. We then played a game which meant we had to get away from our designated catcher to catch the ball. We finished the lesson by playing some end to end netball games.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Handball:
In our Handball lesson this week, we developed our footwork to be able to move and find space to score. We started the lesson by playing "fire and ice" to help develop our footwork and identifying space. We then practiced using the three second rule and passing within that time to a member of our group. We finished the session by playing matches of 5 v 5.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Netball:
In todays lesson, we used a range of techniques to begin attacks and try and score. To begin with we played a game of "Fruit picking" , which is where children are placed into different groups (fruit) and they have to pass the ball to each other. Pickers then have to try and get the ball from the fruit. This helps to develop those attacking and defending principles. After this, we played some mini touch down games where the teams had to pass the ball to each other and get across the area and to score a point. If the ball was dropped or knocked out their hands then they had to start again. We finished the session playing games of Netball.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Handball:
In our Handball lesson this week, we played a 6v6 tournament using all the skills that we had learnt throughout the Module.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Netball:

Module 4
Swimming:
This module we are learning how to swim for our PE lessons.
In the first week we were assessed by the swim instructors to find out what our swimming skills are like and what pool we should be in. After this, the children in the 25m pool were practicing how to "push and gluide" . Children in the teaching pool were practice how to move through the water with their faces underneath.
NC:
swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations.
Gymnastics:
This lesson we learnt how to move gymnastic mates correctly and safely to make sure that throughout this module we are safe. After this warmed up by playng a few games practicing how we should move on the mats. We then looked at different contrasting moves and create our own contrasting pose.
NC: develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance [for example, through athletics and gymnastics]
Module 5
Cricket:
In this lesson we practised our ball handling skills. We had to catch the ball from different heights using the correct hand positions. After this, we worked in groups and Had to run up and throw and catch the ball 5 times. We then ran up and caught the ball from our partner which became a race and worked on catching whilst under pressure.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Athletics:
In today's athletics lesson, we were practising our running skills. We learnt how to pump our arms in time with the movement of our legs. We then had different races, straight race, cat and mouse and short power sprints.
NC: use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
Cricket:
In this lesson, we worked on throwing and catching using specific cricket balls. We had to throw it high and try to do the game Heads, shoulders, knees and toes. After this we worked in pairs and had to throw the ball to each other in a race against the rest of the class. We finished off the lesson by doing a pretend cricket game where one team had to run 20 runs with the bat whilst the other team had to throw and catch the ball. After this the swapped and the winner was the team that had thrown and caught the most catches.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Athletics:
In today’s lesson, we were working on throwing a javelin. We recapped our previous lesson about running and also our throwing skills. We then had a safety and expectation brief and then were shown how to hold and throw a javelin. After this we practised throwing them as far as we could. We finished by doing a competition to see who can throw the furthest.
NC: use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
Cricket:
In today's lesson, we were working on our batting skills. We learned how to hold the bat correctly, what side of the bat we had to hit with and how to run while holding the bat. We first started by recapping our throwing and catching skills. After this we had to practise hitting the balls of the cones correctly. After this, we had to run back and forth between the cones and keep score.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending

Athletics:
In today’s lesson, our objective was to be able to pass a relay to another person successful. We began our lesson by playing Simon Says for our warmup as this allowed us to warm up our bodies as well as our minds. We then were put into teams and had to practise moving to the next cone whilst holding the baton and balancing a ball on top. This was to help us get use to holding the baton in the correct area and keeping it secure whilst moving. After this, we continued to practise running with the baton in a face to face relay. We had to make sure we held it correctly, continued to run through the baton pass and not wave the baton around whilst running.
NC: use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
Cricket:
For todays lesson, we played a cricke match. We were split into teams and had different matches against different teams. For the match, each person had to hit a three cricket balls and then run between the cones as many times as you can. The feilding team had to go and fetch the balls and pass them back to the wicket keeper who then had to put thme back on the cones. Once all of the ball were back on the cones, the batter had to stop running.
NC: play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending
Athletics:
In today's PE we revisited throwing javelins and had a competition to see who could throw the javelin the furthest. We had to throw them from a standing position and see which section the javelin landed in. Each section had different points associated with them and we had to count up who had the most points out of my partner and I. This helps develop competitiveness as well as understand the tactical elements.
NC: use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination
Cricket:
In our first cricket lesson of the term, we revisited our catching skills by throwing the ball up in the air and clapping before we had to catch it. Following this, we had to pair up and throw a ball to each other at the same time. This helped develop our throwing and catching skills as well as our focus. We then started a game where we had to get into a group of four and two children ran and two passed to each other. The runs had to count their run and when the catchers got to a specific number the runners stopped. The pair with the highest number of runs won.
