Module 1
We have had lots of fun learning about the Ancient Greeks this module. We began with a trip to Kent Life where we experienced many workshops which gave us an insight in to ancient Grecian everyday life. We ended the module by using our knowledge of Ancient Greek thespians to create theatrical masks out of clay.
N.C. Pupils should be taught about: Ancient Greece – a study of Greek life and achievements and their influence on the western world
In our first lesson, we identified where Ancient Greece was in place and time.
In our next lesson, we learnt about the origins of democracy and how that relates to democracy in the 21st century.
Next , we learnt about the Ancient city states of Athens and Sparta. We compared their lifestyles and thought about which we would prefer.
We then learnt about Ancient Greek religion and compared their beliefs to other religions we have studied.
Finally, we used images of painted Ancient Greek pots to learn about their Olympic events.
Module 2
In module 2, we completed our learning about Ancient Greeks.
We had great fun reenacting key Greek battles and used our knowledge about Greek armour and fighting formations to help us understand why they were so successful.
Finally we thught about how Ancient Greeks have influenced our everyday life from counting and infrastructure to sports and politics.
