This module we are learning how to use the website and programme Scratch and Scratch Jnr. Our first lesson involved exploring the site and learning what the different buttons are.
N.C create and debug simple programs
In our next computing lesson we looked at Scratch Jnr and was focusing on outcomes. We discussed that we need to programme something with a set of instructions in order for it to work. On Scratch Jnr we programmed our sprites so they were able to talk and move.
N.C create and debug simple programs
In last few computing lessons have been focusing on building a short series of blocks in order to create a short animation. We have been using Scratch Jnr to continue to develop our programme skills.
N.C create and debug simple programs
During our computing lessons this module we have started to look at entering data. We have been able to make links to our maths learning which was all about statistics and collecting data.
N.C can understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation
As the weeks have gone by in Module 6, all of us in Cousteau Class have been collecting different forms of data and presenting in in many ways. During our last few computing lessons of the year, we have collected data in the form of tables and tally charts. We then used a specific computing programme to great pictograms and more recently, block charts. The children have been able to embed their maths skills of statistics into this computing unit and they have done really well!
