5th Grade Art

Unit 1: A World Of Wonder: Art & Imagination

Fifth grade students will reinforce their knowledge of the elements of art, line and shape by connecting them to the principles of design. Students will create and share new ideas by incorporating their knowledge of shape and line.

Unit 2: People & Their Stories

Students in Grade 5 art will dive deeper into how artists communicate stories by applying value and color in their artworks. Students will apply these concepts to reference different cultural celebrations that take place around the world and how different people have different stories.

Unit 3: Close to Nature: Seeing Connections

Grade Five students will extend their knowledge of the Elements of Art, Space and Form by adding new concepts to their knowledge. Students will learn about perspective in art and how to identify different types of perspective.

Unit 4: Surprises: Materials & Forms

Grade 5 students will build on their knowledge of texture by creating using clay and fibers.
