Third grade art students will investigate how to communicate using different types of line and reinforcing their knowledge of geometric and organic shapes.
Students will stretch their imagination by creating invented worlds that evoke a sense of wonder.
Third grade art students will focus on identifying and applying their knowledge of space by creating a foreground, middle ground and background in their artwork.
Third grade students will think about the light and dark areas of an artwork and be able to describe how to use tints and shades. Relating to color, students will be introduced to new color families to expand their knowledge of the color wheel by making connections to artwork that tells a story.
Students will experiment with different ways to create 3D forms in their artwork.
Unit 4: Keeping Traditions: Form, Function, Materials
Third grade students will challenge their knowledge of texture by adding new vocabulary to their word bank. Students will be introduced to visual and tactile textures when creating 2D and 3D art.
Unit 5: Special Times: Art to Remember
Students will learn about the process of compiling their artwork for portfolios and how we use portfolios as a reflection tool. Students will then create a digital ePortfolio that will travel up with them while they attend BAIS.
