In the first half term of the summer term, learners will be studying an enquiry entitled "Are African Americans free at last?" This unit will focus on the Civil Rights movement in America.

LS3 - What was the Montgomery Bus Boycott?
LS4 - Why did MLK use non violent protests?
LS5 - How significant was MLK? Can include watching the Selma Film
LS6 - Are African Americans 'Free at last?' - America today
LS7 - Assessment on the significance of Martin Luther King in the short, medium and long term.
In the final half term of the year, learners will be investigating world conflict since 1945 in the enquiry "How accurate is the term the long peace by Historian John Gladdis?"
LS1 - What was the Cold War?
LS2 - How dangerous was the Cuban Missile Crisis?
LS3 - Were the IRA terrorists or freedom fighters?
LS4 - Will there ever be peace between Israel and Palestine?
LS5 - What was the Falkands war?
LS6 - What was the war on terror? Afghanistan.
LS7 - What was the war on terror? Iraq.
LS8 - Debate on 'the long peace'. They can also watch the World Trade Center film in the final week of term.
