Course overview - Study Period 1 and 2
Learners will explore inspirational people through this DFL and will begin to question why they are inspirational and what characteristics made/make them inspirational. They will be given opportunities to research key moments, famous speeches and the continuing impact these people had on society and the world. Learners will also be given an opportunity to research and explore a person they find inspirational and will present their findings through performance. Learners will explore this topic through Physical Theatre, and explore companies such as DV8, Frantic Assembly and Jasmin Vardimon. These Theatre Companies are inspirational within the field of theatre. Their work varies in theme but DV8, for example, frequently addresses social topics such as freedom of speech, and human rights and aims to take risks and question people’s attitudes and beliefs. They achieve this through various dramatic elements such as naturalistic movements, dance theatre, gesture and verbatim text which this DFL will explore as a mode of performance and communication.
