Course overview - Term 2, Half term 1 and 2
During the first half term - half term 1, learners will be studying about different biomes and ecosystems around the world. They will begin by being able to locate where the major biomes are located in the world through map skills. From this, they will research into one of these biomes in more detail before teaching their peers. The students then have a major focus on the Tropical Rainforest. They look at where they are located, what flora and fauna exist there, and the problems that occur in the Tropical Rainforest.
During the second study period - half term 2; learners will learn about the development of countries. They will have a look at what development is and what holds a country back from developing. They will also have a look into the global distribution of wealth and gender inequality. A big focus of the topic will be using a website called dollar street, where students will be able to compare the lives of people in different countries. This will help them to complete a dollar street country profile that they will be marked on.
