Connect Probe to Main Device
Screw the antenna into the port on top of the main device
Tightly screw the probe onto probe port 1 (ports are labelled on the black junction — twist until secure)
Mount Device & Insert Probe
Apply adhesive tape to the back of the sensor and secure it to the side of the freezer
Open the probe port on the back of the freezer, feed the probe cable through, then close the access port
Power On the Device
Press and hold the button for 6 seconds until the green LED starts flashing, then release
The LED may blink green or red 1–2 times before turning solid green for 3 seconds — this is normal
Prepare Probe & Install Buffer
Remove the cap from the buffer bottle, loosen the nut on the underside, and remove the plastic stopper
Insert the probe through the top opening of the buffer until the metal end is fully exposed
Retighten the nut, reattach the cap, then secure the buffer in the metal bracket and mount it to the freezer grates or back wall
Close the freezer
Scan & Register the Device
Scan the QR code on the device using your camera or QR scanner
Log into the Hexmodal dashboard, select your Building, add a Location description, and set the Temperature Range
Optionally place the device on a floor plan, then tap Save & Submit

Prepare the Boxes Confirm you have all three boxes: the sensor box (larger rectangular), buffer bottle box (smaller rectangular), and probe box (long rectangular).
Connect Probe to Buffer Bottle
Unscrew the buffer bottle cap
Insert the probe through the cap and into the bottle
Screw the nut back on to secure the probe
Place Buffer Bottle in Fridge/Freezer
If there's a probe port, feed the probe cable through it
Secure the bottle using the provided bracket, zip ties, or adhesive
Position the bottle in the middle of the fridge on the hinge side
Connect the Device
Unscrew the black cap on the bottom of the device
Align the probe so the rectangular hole is at 12 o'clock
Screw the probe into the port
Power On the Device
Press and hold the side button for 3 seconds, then release
The screen will turn on showing a temperature display
Confirm network connection by checking for the interlocking squares in the top-right corner of the screen
Press the side button twice to refresh and show the current temperature
Mount the Device
Attach the device to the wall or side of the fridge
Leave enough cable slack so it won't get tugged
Activate the Device
Scan the QR code on the device to launch the Hexmodal dashboard
Log in with your username and password
Select Building, add a Location description
Optionally place the device on a floor plan
Tap Save & Submit
Check Activation
In the dashboard, scroll to the Compliance Status section
Confirm the device shows measurements and communication status
If anything is missing, refer to the troubleshooting guide or install video
