For the past four weeks, the Spanish Club has been busy gathering toiletries, backpacks, gently used clothing, and toys to support families in Coatepeque, El Salvador. What started as a simple donation drive quickly turned into an outpouring of kindness from BJH students, staff, and families.
This weekend, Mr. De Leon will travel to El Salvador and personally deliver the collected items—turning our campus generosity into real-world impact.
The Spanish Club sends a heartfelt thank-you to BJH and our entire community for stepping up, showing up, and making a difference.
Dr. Santamaria’s 8th-grade classes have been exploring food and culinary traditions throughout this six weeks. To wrap up their unit, students celebrated with a festive food day, bringing culturally authentic dishes and drinks to share with their classmates.

And the momentum isn’t slowing down. Both the 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams have opened their seasons with a perfect 2–0 record.
The year is young, but the victories are stacking up—go Broncos!
The 8th grade girl's basketball team got two more wins Thursday night at Watauga Middle School, taking down the Warriors decisively.
In the B Team game the girls redeemed themselves from the slow start last week, and put up 18 points in the first quarter, while holding Watauga scoreless and only allowing 2 points the whole first half with some suffocating defense.
The hustle & teamwork continued in the second half, where our defense only allowed the Warriors to score one free throw. With a final score of 46 - 3, the team will look to continue the win streak this weekend in the Harwood Tournament on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
In A team's battle, the Warriors put a ton of defensive pressure on us from the jump, keeping us to only 10 points. We settled in and turned up the intensity to add 20 more in the 2nd quarter, while only allowing 2 points against us the whole first half. The trend continued in the second half and we ended the night with a final score of 44 - 2, pushing us to a 2-0 record to start the season.
The 8th grade girls will play at Smithfield next Wednesday, the 17th with B team starting at 5pm and the A team following, usually around 6:15pm.
The Bedford 8th Grade Boys Basketball team played at home against Watauga on Thursday Dec 11th. B team had an outstanding defensive game limiting Watauga to only 5 points! Top scorers were Cooper M., Daylen T., and Ryan A. with 10 points each. Michael R. continues on his 3 point shooting streak and hasn't missed one yet this season. The final score was 56-5. The A team had a tough match early trying to break a 2-3 zone defense with some really big players inside. The managed to make several key adjustments in the second half to blow the score wide open with a 59-27 victory. Darius W. led the offensive charge with several key 3 pointers for a total of 18 points. Two-way player LJ S. created a lot of tough baskets for himself and completely shut down some of Watauga's toughest players in the first half. Zach C. took over the defensive reins in the second half and put up several acrobatic shots. Erwin L. made sure the Watauga players had a tough time scoring underneath the basket and getting offensive rebounds. The team got into foul trouble early and so the bench had to pick up the slack and really drive home a team win late. Standouts included Matthew M. and Christian C. Congrats Broncos on another double win night!
The B team is playing in their tournament this weekend with the first game being tonight at 5:30 right here at Bedford. Come by and support us!
