This year BJH NJHS inducted 62 members. Induction took place in the BJH Gym where inductees were sworn in and received their certificates. For the first time ever at BJH, inducted members who completed Finn's Mission earned the first NJHS cords. These students also earned 8 service hours for completing the American Heart Association's challenge. The following students earned a cord: Kate D., Noah G., Mary M., Maryssa M., Sarah Q., Brylee S, and Andrea V.S. President of NJHS Kate Dozier, welcomed families and students in Spanish and said 'hello' in every language currently spoken at BJH. Ms. Keneda looks forward to working with these newly inducted members.
BJH proudly celebrated SRO Appreciation Day by honoring a familiar and valued presence on our campus—Officer Nunuz.
Students gathered on stage to surprise him with a handmade poster that read “FREEZE!”—a playful nod to law enforcement—complete with drawings, signatures, and heartfelt messages of thanks. Standing beside our students, Officer Nunuz wore the kind of smile that says what we already know: this isn’t just a job for him. It’s a commitment to our kids and our campus.
Every day, Officer Nunuz can be found greeting students, checking in with staff, and ensuring that BJH remains a safe and supportive place to learn. Beyond safety, he builds relationships. He mentors. He listens. He shows up—not just when he’s needed, but before he’s needed.
Moments like this remind us that school resource officers play a powerful role in shaping positive school culture. The laughter on stage, the proud smiles, and the thoughtful notes on the poster made one thing clear: Officer Nunuz is appreciated not just for what he does, but for who he is.
BJH is grateful for his dedication, leadership, and steady presence. Officer Nunuz, thank you for all you do to protect, guide, and support our students each and every day.
Congratulations to the top grade earners for the fourth six weeks in Dr. Santamaria’s class! Their dedication to studying, willingness to take on challenging foreign vocabulary and language structures, and steady perseverance truly set them apart.
Learning a new language takes courage and commitment—and these students have shown both. We are proud of their hard work and outstanding achievement. Formidable indeed!
Mr. De Leon would like to highlight the outstanding work being done by the top students on the 4th 6 weeks. These students consistently go above and beyond expectations, demonstrating not only strong academic performance but also genuine dedication to mastering the Spanish language. Whether it’s participating confidently in conversations, submitting high-quality assignments, or supporting their classmates, they model what commitment and growth truly look like. Their discipline, curiosity, and willingness to challenge themselves set the tone for excellence in our classroom, and they continue to raise the bar for what’s possible.

What an incredible season for our 7th grade Team 1. The girls finished the regular season with an outstanding 7–1 record, a true testament to their dedication, teamwork, and growth throughout the year. They showed determination every single game and continued to improve week after week. In the end-of-season tournament, they battled hard against a tough North Ridge team, coming up just short in an overtime thriller. We had to turn the page quickly and get ready for the next game on Saturday. They turned right around and faced Haltom in another intense overtime game, where they fought through some adversity to earn a hard fought victory and secure 3rd place in the Big 12. I could not be more proud of this team. They worked hard every day and allowed me to push them out of their comfort zone. I am so excited to watch these girls grow over the next few years.
The 8th grade boys basketball team finished out their season playing in the silver bracket for the Big 12 Tournament. The team made it to the championship match against Hardwood. This was the third time these two teams met this season. Harwood has a 2-0 lead in the season up to that point. The first half was back and forth with Bedford getting out to an early lead. Hardwood came back with tough full court defense and was up by 10 going into the 4th quarter. A full change in strategy for the Broncos in the 4th proved to be a tough challenge for Harwood. The Blackhawks got in early foul trouble and our Broncos went to the charity stripe often. Their free throws kept the Broncos in the game and it came down to a last second shot from Harwood to tie the game to go into overtime. Foul trouble wrecked the Blackhawks again with several of the best players fouling out. The Broncos then cruised the rest of the way for a final score of 57-52 and got first place in their bracket. Congratulations to the team and a great finish to the season.
Last weekend, the BJH girls basketball team captured the Big 12 Gold Bracket District Tournament championship in impressive fashion, defeating Harwood on Friday before battling past the Central Spartans in a thrilling title game. For the second year in a row, the championship came down to BJH and Central — and for the second straight season, the girls rose to the occasion to bring home the trophy. The championship game was their closest contest of the season, testing their composure, grit, and unity. Faced with adversity and intensity unlike anything they had seen all year, the team stayed together and trusted the game they’ve been building for over three months to come away with the 42 - 36 win. Their resilience and unwavering teamwork proved to be the difference. Repeating as district champions is no small accomplishment, and finishing their BJH basketball careers with a perfect 26–0 record makes this group even more special. Coach Schulz was incredibly humbled to watch their daily commitment and hard work pay off in the ultimate reward. Thank you, girls, for giving your all to our program and leaving a lasting legacy!
