Congratulations to the 8th grade Lady Broncos Volleyball program for defeating Smithfield Middle School yesterday in some exciting volleyball matches.
Team 2, came out in their first set serving. Kamryn Turner, Finley Smith, Reyna Ochoa and Bethany VanKleef led the service pressure winning 25-9. After losing a tough second set 25-23 the team came back to win the third and decisive set 25-22. Players of the match were Kamryn Turner, Finley Smith, Lily Park, Reyna Ochoa, Bethany VanKleef and Addyson Stuth.
Team 1 was also ready for the challenge. Set one was a back and forth competitive match which saw many lead changes. Down 20-18 Brooklyn Harris applied intense service pressure that pushed us to the win. In set two the Lady Broncos dominated Smithfield with outstanding service pressure. Ellie Gilchrist served 9 points followed by Karsyn Caudle serving 10 points in a row. It was a serving clinic which Smithfield had no answer for and pushed us to victory 25-5. Players of the match. Karsyn Caudle, Ellie Gilchrist, Brooklyn Harris, Abby Zubrod, Naomi Jackson, Mila Corn and Addison Niutei.
Both teams are now 3-0 to begin the season and will take on Central at Central Jr. High.
The 7th grade volleyball team took on a tough Smithfield team this week on the road at Smithfield Middle School.
Team 2 dropped the game in two sets, but put up a good fight in set 2, challenging a very consistent Smithfield serving attack.
Team 1 also dropped the game in two sets, but came back in set 2 fighting for every point, pushing the score to 17 - 17 before Smithfield pulled away to win the set 25 - 19.
Although it wasn't the outcome we wanted, this game showed the most growth of our team and we learned a lot in the process. Both teams will have our first home game next Monday, Sept 15, taking on the Central JH Spartans. We'd love to pack the stands with blue!
