Last weekend, your 7th grade Team 1 Lady Broncos competed in their mid-season tournament and brought home 3rd place!
Your Broncos rolled through pool play on Friday, playing two sets against North Oaks and two against Watauga, holding the other side to under 5 points each set, securing the #1 spot in the bracket for Saturday.
On Saturday morning we started off with a tough North Ridge team. In set one, North Ridge pulled out a tough-fought win, 25- 19, but couldn't stand up to the fight we brought in set two. Our victory in set two pushed us to a deciding game three that we took control of early, but we ended up dropping in a heartbreaker with a score of 25 - 22.
Moving into the 3rd place game against Watauga, our girls responded with the appropriate focus and never gave Watauga a chance. We took set one and set two by 10+ points each to earn the 3rd place finish in the tournament.
Coach Schulz is super proud of the strides we're making against tough competition and the teamwork we showed this weekend to take home the 3rd place slot! Let's finish this season strong, ladies!
Two weeks ago, the 7th grade Team 2 Volleyball team traveled to North Ridge Middle School for our mid-season tournament and brought home the championship!!
In pool play on Friday, the girls took down North Oaks decisively, then split games with North Richland to finish first in our pool heading into bracket play Saturday.
On Saturday, we had to take on a tough North Ridge team in order to advance to the championship. They challenged us in every aspect of the game, but we handled the pressures and beat them in 2 sets to move to the championship against the North Richland Lady Falcons.
In set one, we played some of our best volleyball of the season, taking them off guard by being aggressive and working together, which led to an 8 point victory. In set two your lady Broncos got off to a tough start and had to fight tooth and nail for every point into the 20's. With the game on the line several times, our composure at the service line and communication on court led us to take a set two victory, crowning us the tournament champions!
Coach Schulz is so proud of how far these girls have come, and how they came together to finally show their potential. Great job, Broncos - you earned this and made us proud!
Congrats to the 8th grade Lady Broncos Volleyball team for playing two competitive matches with Richland Middle School Monday evening.
Team 2 started slow but came on strong to win in two straight sets 25-23, 25-14. Finley Smith, Bethany Vankleef, Addyson Stuth and Myla Taylor led the serving attack. Kinsley Young, Lily Park, Addilyn Smith, Lilly Harrop and Mallory Hurtado led the attacking and net play. The defense was led by Klaire Pesce, Reyna Ochoa, Purity Bittinger, Kamryn Turner and Yvian Noguera.
Team 1 lost the first set, but came roaring back winning the second set. In the third and final set, both teams played well with team 1 losing 25-23. Players of the match were Mila Corn, Naomi Jackson and Addyson Niutei. A strong defensive effort was given by Brooklyn Harris, Syria Noriega and Claire Luna. Thanks to Chanelle Walls, Abby Zubrod, Claire Luna and the whole team for having to learn a new system and execute it.
