The BJH Chess Club continues to demonstrate strong growth and student commitment. During our most recent meeting, members began utilizing official chess clocks and competed in structured 5- and 10-minute matches. Students applied classical opening principles, including the Italian Game and the Ruy López, while refining strategic thinking, time management, and sportsmanship. The consistent dedication of our returning members is helping establish a focused and competitive chess culture at BJH.
We had the honor of recognizing our Bedford Junior High Special Olympians at the pep rally this week. These outstanding students compete in bowling, volleyball, basketball, and track & field, representing our school with determination, teamwork, and heart.
We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the way they inspire our campus both on and off the field!
Bedford Junior High is proud to recognize Mrs. Susan Romero as our February Staff Shout-Out Winner, and honestly… if there were a trophy for “heart of gold,” she’d need a bigger shelf.
Mrs. Romero was nominated for consistently going above and beyond to make sure every student and family feels seen, heard, and valued. Colleagues shared that she never hesitates to lend a helping hand—and she does it with a smile that says, “Yes, I’ve got this,” even on the busiest days.
During the surprise announcement, staff highlighted that Mrs. Romero’s commitment extends far beyond the expectations of her role. No matter the situation, she shows up with compassion, patience, and a laser focus on doing what’s best for kids, teachers, and families. In other words, she’s the kind of person you want in your corner when things get tough.
As part of the celebration, a special guest from ECU presented Mrs. Romero with a $50 award to recognize her dedication. Clearly surprised and humbled, Mrs. Romero thanked everyone and reminded us that the real reason she does what she does is because of the students and staff she works alongside every day. (Cue the collective “awww.”)
Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Romero for this well-deserved recognition. BJH is a better place because of her—and we’re lucky she’s on our team. 👏👏👏
Mrs. Gill would like to recognize Emma S. for her "willingness to help." She and a few other students stayed after school two days until 5:00 to deep clean the stage and backstage areas. It is sparkling clean now AND they planned this on their own! Thanks for being helpful Broncos!
Mrs. Lowe would like to recognize Carson R., Duncan B. and Bryson B. for their "willingness to help others." These boys recognized when a fellow classmate was struggling and stepped in to help out! Thanks for being helpful Broncos!
The LEFT lane is a pass-through lane ONLY. Do not stop in this lane.
Students should not enter or exit vehicles from the left lane at any time.
The RIGHT lane is the designated drop-off and pick-up lane where students must exit and enter vehicles on the right side.
If you need to park, please pull through using the left lane and find a parking spot, which is very limited due to staff parking.
When vehicles stop in the left lane upon entering the parking lot, it blocks traffic flow and is making access to the staff parking lot increasingly difficult. For everyone’s safety and efficiency, please carefully follow the traffic map and posted signage.
Right Lane = Student Drop-Off & Pick-Up Only
All students must enter and exit vehicles on the right side of the car in the designated drop-off lane.
Left Lane = Pass-Through Only
The left lane is reserved for pass through traffic only.
Please obey traffic laws to ensure the safety of our students and staff walking through the parking lot.

Congratulations to the Boys Gymnastics Team for earning 1st Place at the District Meet on Monday night. We are so proud of the way they represented Bedford Jr High. Way to go, boys!
The 7th and 8th grade track teams competed this week in the Euless Practice Meet, our first of the season. Both grades competed well, and we had an athlete break a school record on the girls side in the 800m run. 8th grader Reagan W. ran a 2:42.2 800m, which beat the previous record by 1 second. What a way to set the tone for the season. Congrats, Reagan!
