As many may know, Explore has plenty to offer for all, such as choices in the cafeteria, CTE choices, and much more. But there’s more, now to many from the outside that must seem like the school fun never ends (which isn’t wrong) but let's take all of you on the inside scoop of what goes on after school.
Which clubs do Explore offer many may ask? Well, we have a lot. Starting off with the first is Journalism. Here in the Journalism club, we write stories on different topics going on in school and even around the world. Other clubs offered are Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Needlepoint, Anime, GameStop, Yearbook, LGBTQIA+, Council on Diversity, Peer Leaders, Behind the Mask, HOSA, Mathletes, Science Club, Art Exploration, and Chess.
Gamestop allows students to relax and play games with their friends, LGBTQIA+ is where students (LGBTQIA+ or not) can talk to people and feel comfortable with everyone, and the Council on Diversity connects with other schools and comes up with ways to become more inclusive. There is also the Peer leaders which schedules and makes events for different holidays and or school events, Behind the mask which is an acting class in which you review and read scripts, HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America), Mathletes which competes in math competitions, and Art Exploration which is an art club.
How do the staff and student body feel about these clubs? Well, 8th grade ELA teacher and Journalism club representative Justine Franco says, “I am so proud of the after-school program we offer here at Explore. The staff is working hard to provide our students opportunities to engage in their areas of interest and try out new things.”
7th grader and fellow journalism member Melody Hartman-Kelly says, “It is great to provide students with extracurricular activities that they wouldn’t get otherwise.”
