Many Explore students have expressed their interest in wanting sports teams. Sports teams can build friendships, teach people about teamwork, and keep people active, as well as building hand-eye coordination, functional movement skills, and general life skills. Let’s talk about sports teams.
Many students expressed the desire for sports teams. It can build physical strengths, and skills that may be needed in the future. A student, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “It brings a sense of pride to [our] school.” School pride can bring confidence to students. According to the article “5 Ways to Foster School Pride and a Sense of Belonging” from School Stream, “for most students, it translates as a feeling of strong connection to the school or being proud to represent the school and the values it stands for.” The word pride is defined as “to be especially proud of a particular quality or skill.”
Here are a few opinions students expressed on the topic of school sports teams. Seventh-grader Desmond Tripp said, “Having sports teams at Explore are beneficial because it can teach us a lot about teamwork and we can get better at sports, keep everyone more active.”
“I really like the sports in the school, but it’s boring playing against each other, and I think it would be better for kids if there was an actual team so we can play against other teams so it can be more competitive,” eight-grader Michelle Ramnath added. Another student who spoke under the condition of anonymity stated, “I think having sports teams is beneficial because we have to stay fit.”
So what do you think? Sports teams at Explore so far seem to be a hit.
