Explore Middle School has had a lot of changes over the past year. One of the most noticeable changes is the new playground. Some kids like it and some kids don’t. It is a hot topic at Explore, and there are a lot of opinions about the new playground.
A seventh grader at Explore, Fia Seminowicz says she would rather play on the old playground. She states “I prefer the old playground. I feel like the old playground was more dangerous”. She says, “It is not much of a playground, it is not as fun as the old one.”
An eighth grader Vincent Cao says “It is not the best, not much improvement, the old one is better, it has more things to play with.” Most seventh graders and eighth graders do not like the new playground, they think it is too safe and there are not as many things to do.
A lot of sixth graders like the new playground. They like it because they never knew what the old playground looked like and never experienced playing on it. A sixth grader Hudson Phillips said, “ Yes sir, it is kind of fire not gonna lie.” He likes it because he said “It is challenging”.
It seems that sixth graders like the playground more than anybody else. This makes sense because the seventh and eighth graders experienced both playgrounds. On the other hand the sixth graders think the playground is great because they have not known the old playground so they wouldn’t know if it was better or worse. All in all, when it comes to the new playground kids aren't playing around with their opinions.
