The ECG unit aims to educate our students to be aware of their interests, skills, and values, and nurture them to be reflective and purposeful individuals in their community and the world. The unit guides and assists our students in their application to universities.
Our programmes for students aim to encourage their self-reflection and exploration process:
Annual ECG and Scholarship Fair;
Talent Attachment and Grooming (TAG) Programme (work experience);
Talks: Engagement and information sessions by industry professionals and local and overseas university representatives;
Forums: Panel sessions by industry professionals and overseas undergraduate alumni;
Visits: To local companies and universities;
Briefings: In-house briefing sessions on application processes;
Workshops: Career skills, university essay writing workshops;
One-to-one or small-group counselling sessions.
The ECG Centre located at the 3rd level of the Holistic Education Building (Block D) is a great resource on career and university-related matters, and is where the counsellors are seated. The ECG Corner at the library has SAT/ACT resource materials, essay writing guides and related books.

Counselling & Well-being
School counsellors
Ms Xiao Li En
Miss Charlene Wong
Ms Carine Cheng
The unit provides interactive care, support and guidance for students and equips them with the skills to embrace their experiences during their formative years. Students may approach the school counsellors should they need support. The unit also engages in student outreach which looks at supporting students holistically in areas outside their academic realms, such that they are able to develop fulfilling and enjoyable experiences while in school.
If students encounter situations that disrupt their learning or school experience, they should not hesitate to seek the help of their Civics Tutor or Faculty teachers as well as the school counsellors. These staff will assist students to identify opportunities for personal growth, expand repertoire of coping resources and make changes in themselves for achievements in the social, education and career planning, and academic domains.
Counselling is confidential, requires commitment and effort and is a two-way process between the student and counsellor.
The counselling office is located at the ECG room, level 3 of Block D (HEC Block).
Feel free to browse the HCI (college) Well-being website for more information pertaining to school counseling support or to request for a session with a school counsellor:
