Our library, founded in 1974, was renamed as the Jing Xian Library in 1983, in honour of the father of Mr. Tan Keong Choon, Chairman of the Hwa Chong Junior College management committee then.
Mr. Tan Keng Hian (Mr. Chen Jing Xian) was a businessman, community leader and a philanthropist. He was the brother of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the founder of The Chinese High School (present Hwa Chong Institution).
Jing Xian Library is located at level 4 of Block E (Cheng Yi Block). It was renovated in 2019 as part of Hwa Chong’s centennial celebrations, to serve the students and staff better.
