Are you working by yourself or in a team?
I am working in a team.
What materials will you need for your project?
I will need a PC, Scratch, and something to record my final product with.
What is your plan to create in this project?
My plan is to create a multiplayer parkour game.
What unique qualities will your project have?
My game will include unique mechanics and a boss battle at the end.
I started my list of 10 and my planning questions, as well as gave the website banner a quick redesign. I then worked with my partner to create the designs for the two characters, and then I added code for movement, gravity, and a double jump.
We added 6 more levels with more interesting mechanics, such as levers and doors, a volcano, and a moving platform.
We added 3 more levels, including a new button mechanic, and a boss battle that didn't get finished in time.
We tried to make the boss battle, but many bugs appeared in the process, but it was time to go when we found those glitches.
We completed working on the boss battle, including a few new attacks, a win screen, and a lose screen.
We recorded the video for the project.
Using Scratch and a Computer, We created a platformer game that has 2 players because it seemed like an interesting concept, and quite a challenge. Having to play with two seperate players instead of one was a good concept for a game, and gave ideas for some unique level designs. It was also a challenge to make due to having to create code that gave characters gravity.
During this process, I learned how to give a scratch sprite gravity. I had to give the floor a certain color, and then I had to make the character fall, while making it fall faster, replicating gravity. I then had to make it so it didn't keep falling when it touched the ground, hence the floor being a certain color, so it is easier to place into the code.
The 7 standards of the class are Empowered Learner, Digital Citizen, Knowledge Constructor, Innovative Designer, Computational Thinker, Creative Communicator, and Global Collaborator. My project ties to Innovative designer because we took the idea of a two player platformer, which has been made before, and added our own spin on it. We added unique characters, a portal mechanic, and a fun boss battle at the end.
A challenge I overcame on this project was creating level ideas. We wanted the game to include at least 10 levels, and we had to come up with different mechanics for levels. I was able to do it by working with my partner to come up with different level and mechanic ideas.
Given a chance to do this again, I would fix most of the bugs in the game. The game had a lot of bugs in it, which made the game really easy to cheat in most cases. The reason why I would change it is because I want to make the game actually challenging, and not just allow players to glitch right through a level.
