Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi is an Indian festival in which a sister ties a Rakhi on his brother's wrist for providing her protection,receiving a gift from them in return, and traditionally investing the brothers with a share of the responsibility of their potential care. It is also celebrated priests to patrons and sometimes by individuals to real or potential benefactors. It is practiced in Northern India, western India as well as in Nepal. It is celebrated for Brother hood and love. The word Raksha means protection, whilst Bandhan is the verb that means to tie. It is observed on the last day of the Hindu lunar calendar month of Shraavana, which typically falls in August.
