1. So Eun Park - 10A
Like any other student in other schools that follow the MYP program, Global Jaya School students who are in grade 10 now, worked on the Personal Project from 2019 until 2020. When the year 10 students finished the personal project this January 2020, GJS made a Personal Project Exhibition to show the student’s work and process to many different people.
As one of the students in year 10, the second week in January was the busiest week that I have ever experienced in my year 10. Most of the students created a poster and prepared the decorations which would be in the booth later on. On the day of the exhibition, All of the year 10 students gathered in the theater lobby and started decorating their assigned booths about two hours before the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony was held inside the theater. The two MCs who were from year 10 stood on stage and led the event fluently. We also saw various different projects from our friends. 10 people from year 10 were selected to be the representatives for showing their project in front of the audience.
After the remarkable opening ceremony, We started to present our work to the parents and GJS families. Most of us seemed awkward at first, but I could see many of them explaining seriously later on. A similar thing happened to me. I felt very nervous and was shaking when I presented my work, but soon I felt myself getting used to it, and tried my best to explain my work to people who came to my booth.
In my personal opinion, the purpose of the Personal Project Exhibition is to improve ourselves, making us one step closer to reaching our dream or our goal. The time I was presenting the work, I did not expect many things, just to tell them my process and tell about my product. I successfully reached this idea when the PP exhibition has finished. I made some mistakes but I still completed my goal for the exhibition.
I actually made plenty of mistakes while I was doing the exhibition. I rushed in planning and designing my booth, hence I did not have a satisfying booth decoration at the end. This made me regret that I had been delaying my schedule making the decoration. Also , I made some mistakes in explaining my work due to nervousness. This was quite not satisfying for both me and the audience.
Despite the fact that I made some mistakes in the Exhibition, I learned many things during the personal project exhibition. One of them was to be comfortable in presenting. When I did my presentation over time, I did not feel nervous and felt comfortable presenting my work. I guess that this was the best benefit I have got for the event of the exhibition.
2. Ameera Kayla Imani - 10B
Personal Project was a new experience for me. I moved from a school that used Cambridge as its curriculum. At first, I didn't think much about it but as I went on, I started to realize how tough it was. Preparing my exhibition was not easy. I panicked during the day we had to present because I barely finished my booth. Booth preparation was stressful for everyone, as we had to print many things which cost a lot of money, wait for people to finish using the staple gun and many people were shouting asking where the scissors were.
I think everyone did push themselves to do the best they could with their booth. Personally, booth preparation was one of the hardest tasks because it's not only about the panel board but having to make sure that everything was ready that was a struggle for me. I had difficulties arranging the photos on the panel board because there was a lot of both big and small pictures. I had to get ink all over my hands and some of my photos got ruined as I accidentally scratched the ink off. It was much harder than I expected. It hit me just after guests and parents started to come, that I needed to be serious when presenting. I can't sit down, walk around and leave my booth unattended. Most of us had to practice speaking and presenting, hoping not to mess up and to impress the visitors. Don't think that this will be easy; it was not, trust me.
I think the purpose of the Personal Project Exhibition is for teachers to see our approach to learning and how much we have developed through the MYP program. It's for teachers to see whether we are putting our research and thinking skills to good use. I don't think it's only for people to see our interests but also to see the skills we have picked up by doing the IB curriculum and it could be to show people the positive outcomes of many things. As for me, I chose photography as my topic intending to prove to people the importance of expressing yourself as an individual and how photography, or any other interest can act as a stress reliever. This whole project is about growing and improving ourselves as a student for the best future. I'd say I could've done better, but I am glad that I was able to complete my report, my product and thankfully my booth. I had to change my whole plan right before the opening ceremony, which somehow worked. This just proves how much harder Personal Project is.
One thing that I gained is that it helped me communicate better with the people around me. I got to have a great supervisor and by communicating with him, I got to understand many things that I didn't know before. My friends also helped me with many things that I struggled with. It's no doubt that I was stressed about the concept of Personal Project but with help from many kind people, I was able to complete this whole project. Communication is essential for being able to accomplish your goal. Without it, I wouldn't be able to even understand this whole process. I also improved on taking things seriously because it's Personal Project that taught me to focus and know my priorities.

The PP exhibition is conducted to present the students' achievements and bright ideas. It is a momentous event since it will celebrate Year 10's success in finishing PP, and also our talents and creativity. Our goal is to impress, entertain, and motivate the ones who examine our exhibition. And frankly, I think Year 10 has successfully reached our goal.
Being a new student in Global Jaya School, I did not know what to expect when it comes to Personal Project. I anticipated the trials and turbulences that came with PP, like the interviews, the stress, and even the criteria I needed to follow. But what I was evidently not prepared for was the exhibition. Not only did I have to display my product, but I also presented my project to the people that came.
At first, I thought that it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But after I saw how serious Bu Popy was about it, I decided to take it seriously like she did. I started working on my design and planning a week before the exhibition. My PP product is heavily connected with nature, and I wanted my booth to be related to that as well. All Year 10 students set up the booth on Saturday, and I got to work immediately. It took me about 2 hours to set up everything.
On the day of the PP Exhibition, I got so nervous since I had to present my product. Bu Popy chose 10 students from Year 10 to present their products to our peers, underclassmen, and parents, and I was selected as one of them. It was my first time performing at the Global Jaya School theater, and it was nerve-wracking. I thought I was going to butcher it, but in the end, I did well on it. I also performed an original song, and fortunately, a lot of people seemed to like it. The exhibition itself went smoothly. A lot of people came to see my booth, and they seemed to enjoy my product. I also got to see my friend's booths, and they did well in making theirs look extravagant.
From this exhibition, I learned how to manage my time and appreciate other people's work. Managing time wasn't easy since the deadline between the final report submission and the exhibition was close. But that made me realize how maintaining a proper schedule will get you through any busy week. I got to see what my friends did for their PP, and with that, I could reflect their personalities from their product. Some of the areas I needed to improve were my presentation and fluidity. I didn't think of making a script for my booth presentation, and I completely regretted it. That limited my fluidity in explaining the product to my visitors.
Overall, the exhibition was a success.

On Monday morning 20th of January 2020, students flocked to the school theatre to get a head start on their Year 10 IB Personal Project preparations. Vibrant booths, poetic speeches, impactful products to captivate visitors. All year, we anticipate the MYP Personal Project Exhibition, where high schoolers gladly showcase the outcomes of a vivid, six-month venture on subjects based on their very own preference. As usual, students fascinated us through their products that investigated a wide multitude of subjects, including solar systems, a children’s book, political views, personal films, formulating fertilizers and tackling updated environmental concerns such as the Australian Wildfires.
The presentation is an exciting factor of the Middle Years Program experience from grades 7-10 — a milestone for every 10th grader involved with the International Baccalaureate. Each Personal Project exhibits the one of a kind abilities that are developed in the span of the beginning MYP secondary years also known as an academic feat that is driven through dedication and skill.
The PP exhibition serves the purpose of showcasing the talents and hard work of each of the students. A public display shows the work of the artists, their products, the skills of the performers, and each individual’s general interest or goal in the product.
Though the activity was not just merely a public display, but also aided exposure to the students. Exposure to not just show off but to also accept feedback and constructive criticism - with also space for compliments and merits. Those who attended the exhibition made it possible for the students to gain a greater audience or number of readers when communicating their goals through product and presentation.
With the Personal Project, the IB asserts participants to choose a subject matter that is significant - that underlines the reason for he/ she to not just selfishly prioritize themselves over others, through unique and personal preferences, to revolve around a global context in order to fulfil inquires significantly, and use practised skills (planning, research, execution, etc.)
Next time, hopefully, there will be more requirements such as reflections, criticism received throughout the whole project, as well as tips for those who are expecting to do the project soon. These can be done through creative posters, inputting in every student’s presentation scripts and evidence (pictures, screenshots, and many more.)
The Personal Project teaches life skills, academic skills, and dedication. To be viewed as a summary of one's academic career - knowledge and experience. Showcasing hard work through creativity and beyond. Some say that some learn more about themselves than the subject. Most importantly, each student’s experiences will be impacted both negatively and positively for the greater good of themselves.
5. Imaji Fabiandava Ramadhan - 10E
The Personal Project exhibition is a massive platform where students could express and showcase their works to a wide range of audiences. The students from visiting schools gathered at the school theatre on the Monday morning of 20 January 2020. The Installation and booth were crucial and very powerful as it addresses insightful, innovative topics and a wide range of issues that were important yet rarely discussed. We, the students, will be anticipating the moment to present the results of a vibrant six months. Students examined a wide range of topics, including solar systems, a children's book, political views, personal films, culture, mental health and more.
The PP exhibition is a unique experience as it taught me lessons that were never taught in class. Moral and life lessons to be exact. The Personal Project itself gave me a unique perspective on the complexity of creating a product; meanwhile, the PP exhibition allowed me to share my thoughts and concern through my products to the broad public. The PP exhibition itself offers an opportunity for people to exchange views and ideas, unlike any other events as the direct approach allows people to interact easily.
Although the event was not only a public exhibition, as explained before the exhibition as a platform for people to exchange ideas. People who gave me constructive criticism were welcomed as it is a parameter for me to improve. Those who took part in the exhibition presented the participating students the opportunity to gain more insight and perspective on the world, especially themselves.
