Global Jaya Cleans Up

Global; Global Jaya Cleans Up was heavily inspired by the Clean-Up Jakarta Day (CUJD) event, which strives for a better city by conducting simple clean-ups around local communities. The event’s main purpose was to build awareness amongst the students on the importance of cleaning up and maintaining our environment. The student volunteers would clean up the school and its surrounding areas.

As our school not having participated in the annual event of CUJD this year, the team underestimated the complications of planning such an event. After a lot of revisions in the planning we finalized the timelines and other issues during the term break. The main threat and obstacle we faced was the weather. However, we were prepared for the worst and had contingency plans in case of unfavorable weather. On the day of our event our worst fears came true and it rained heavily in the beginning. Fortunately, the rain stopped in time allowing us to carry out the event despite some delays.

Such was the dedication of our students towards the cause that all of the 50 volunteers showed up. The volunteers were divided into 6 groups each consisting of 7 - 13 students. The size of the group was based on the area that was to be cleaned. Though the weather was depressing and the rain had made things difficult the spirits of our students were high. They marched on to their designated location around the school for the cleanup. Each group had an area to clean and also complete some tasks. Five groups focused on cleaning their pre-decided areas while the 6th group was assigned to plant a minimum of 10 trees.

After a very exhausting but fun-filled day the program of cleaning and planting trees came to a successful end. The hard work put in by all became a great and delightful achievement as we managed to collect a lot of garbage. All the months of planning had achieved its goal and this made us proud of ourselves. In the end, the Global Jaya Cleans Up project was a total success in not only cleaning the area but also educating everyone about maintaining our environment.

This whole endeavor was made successful by not only the hard work of the student volunteers but also the able guidance of our teachers on that day. We would like to thank them for this great help and effort. The students of Global Jaya proved their willingness and commitment towards the betterment of the environment and for this we appreciate their hard work. We hope to make this in the future becomes an annual event.
