I am exited to start this module as it's been about 2 years now since iv'e last dabbled in making videos, and I really enjoyed it last time. The brief for this project is all about us and how we work. I already love documenting my processes therefore i'm delighted to see how this module can help me develop this.
The brief:
"The final video must document and showcase a piece of work that you have made on the course alongside processes used in its creation. The brief presents an opportunity for you to celebrate your discoveries and achievements through a self-promotional video piece.
You will be required to consider the areas identified below through documenting, presenting and communicating aspects of the following "
IDENTITY- a brief introduction of who you are…
WORK- select one key piece of work that you have created on the course…
PROCESS- a process that is important to your artistic practice…
DISCOVERY- what have you found within the course…
1) Create a video that's got the aspect of ASMR along the creating side of making ceramics. There are so many sounds when making ceramics and most of them are really satisfying therefore I'd want to include some in my video.
Inspired by Jonthepotter on youtube who's work I really like - Of course he throws on a wheel and I'm a hand builder so my process is very different than his.
2) Time laspes. I already love time lapsing when i'm making (when I remember !) and glazing. I love looking back at how I created something as often I get caught up in the process you forget how much work goes into transforming a piece of clay into something.
3) Capture Slow motion shots. As in the process of making, time lapses are fun but I would love to slow down some shots to really show all the effort that goes into it e.g a slow motion shot of wedging a piece of clay down on a board.
Inspired by Jonthepotter on youtube for the ASMR idea - Of course he throws on a wheel and I'm a hand builder so my process is very different than his.
I'm also a bit inspired by this video I randomly watched on youtube a couple weeks ago. The use of Foley was very satisfying but i'm not sure if i'd be able to create something like that! Daniel Schiffer has a great youtube channel though where he teaches a lot of cool tips and tricks about capturing video.
