After focusing on the parrot I decided I would set my project in the tropical rainforest of Guyana, South America where Parrots are native to. I decided to only include an 'Eve' in my version to empower women and the stance we take in the modern world of equality and women power. Therefore my conclusion was to create my version of the 'Garden of Eden'- in the rainforest with 'Eve' a person of colour, and a parrot in it's native home on some type of ceramic pieces.
I began by looking at the figures of a woman. Durer drew his Eve as an 'idealized' figure I wanted my 'Eve' to represent a range of different figures and be more realistic to the modern day we live in.
Once figuring out the figures I moved on into looking at powerful stances and women of colour. I wanted the focus of my pieces to be women of colour as, being a mixed race person myself, there is not enough representation out there and I want my work to reflect myself and who I am as well.
I wanted to keep the women featureless as everything they represent is being shown in their stances. I made watercolour paintings of each style to use as a reference when making and glazing my ceramics.
