After figuring out that my forms would be to heavy to be hung, I decided to look at other things I could make and hang. I realised I could create a hanging version of my design by separating each element of the design and presenting them together in a different way. Here were my first few designs as I was thinking through the idea.
So by separating the 'scene' into Eve, the parrot and the plants, then putting them back together in a hanging for it still displays my idea just in a different way.
As a way to make a repeat pattern I started experimenting with how I could create my own rolling pin with pattern detail. I debated burning in a design with a pokerwork machine but I didn't think it would leave enough of an indent. That's when I got the idea 'why not use my glue gun', because as we all know glue guns are great for more than just gluing! So I created a bunch of different patterns and when rolled onto clay they work great. In my hanging pieces I wanted to include one textured plant section and these rollers worked perfectly.
I struggled a bit with understanding how to tie the twine to hang them and once I figured it out I wish I would have made beads that I could of included instead of the knots I made to hold it together. Other than that i'm really happy with how they turned out and will be making more hanging things in the future.
