I made rough sketches on how I imagined putting together a jellyfish and the only way to understand if it would work was to start creating and doing my own research. I watched all the youtube videos on wind chimes as they were the vibe I was going for, the sound of ceramic pieces chiming against eachother is lovely so I thought to add a sound aspect to what i'm creating. (Links to youtube will be at the bottom of the page)
I began by making loads and loads of small discs. I also wanted to test out adding some texture to represent the arms of 'true jellyfish' which look like ribbons. I did this by stamping down a pattern from a doily which left a great imprint. The only trouble was that I could only get the imprint on one side as it would rub off the other side. Here's a step by step on how the imprinting works.
I made loads of these and also kept some plain without texture.
I then made a bunch of beads (these photos are from before I smoothed them out) which I had never made before but I found that they were quite relaxing to make.
This process is me just exploring my first ideas, therefore I was doing a 'test' run of the whole process to understand if everything works.
