Review course clinical objectives, experiences, and hours with your student and set goals.
Ensure that all clinical assignments due to-date are submitted, reviewed, and credited directly in Canvas.
See Clinical SOAP Note Evaluation page!
Review your student's Midterm Clinical Evaluation (MCE) submitted in Canvas . A video of this process can be found here.
Students should upload both page 1 & 2 of the MCE to Canvas as a single PDF.
Be sure that their portion is complete with student/preceptor credentials, doubly signed and dated (month/day/year). Please see the ANCC brochure on how to display credentials.
Be sure that the document is legible.
Complete the CFA portion of the MCE directly into Canvas using the annotation tools. Be sure to mark as complete once finished.
Connect with the preceptor and student. This is a great time to complete a remote site visit. You may use the Remote Site Visit Tool. Reminder: All students need at least one remote site visit prior to graduation; Some states require each term and/or in person site visits which will be communicated to you by the CFD or Lead CFA.
Clinical Skills Checklist: Found in the toolbox of each clinical course. When meeting with your student at midterm, review their progress on this checklist. This tool is a great way to frame the competencies of each course and ensure student is on track to meeting their competencies. It also allows students and preceptors to tailor their learning and to seek out patient encounters that meet their course objectives.
Remind students to be up-to-date on their clearances in CastleBranch. Castlebranch can take up to 5 business days to approve submissions. All castlebranch items must be submitted and accepted to be in a clinical rotation.
IF EITHER YOU OR THE PRECEPTOR HAVE ANY CLINICAL CONCERNS,
PLEASE CONTACT THE COURSE COORDINATOR AND CFD IMMEDIATELY.
If your student completing their FINAL clinical course and anticipates completing in the middle of an academic term, be advised that all clinical documentation in Canvas and Typhon must be complete and credited by the CFA by the 18th of the month in order for their AMCB letter to go out the same month. Starting May 2023, the Registrar will no longer offer monthly degree conferrals. Degrees will be awarded May, August, and December. NM students will be able to sit for AMCB boards within 2-4 weeks after their letter is sent however their degree will not be conferred until the end of the academic term. NCC requires degree conferral before sitting for boards.
