A message from NM/WHNP & WHNP Program Leadership Regarding Our Commitment to to Antiracism & Health Equity
We wanted to acknowledge the collective trauma students continue to face in uncertain times. We continue to be here for conversation and support. Do not hesitate to reach out to the leadership team and/or your faculty. Additionally, know that you have access to mental health and telehealth resources through Georgetown.
Racism and other forms of bias are a public health issue. We commit to advancing health equity across the curriculum, building on GUSON mission, vision, and values. We will continue to strengthen the NM/WHNP and WHNP educational experience to support the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to improve the well-being of each other and the diverse populations you serve. In applying to Georgetown, many of you stated you chose this program because you were aligned with its core tenets. Together, in alignment with Georgetown Interm President Groves' message, remain maintaining a learning environment that is reflective, open, engaged, resilient, and committed, with grace and understanding.
For students in the clinical sequence of the program, you may revisit your readings from NURO 6512 OCI Health Equity sessions. For students in the core curriculum, you may want to start here to consider how to talk about race and racism.
Take care of yourself and others throughout this time. Radical self-care has never been more important.
