Please note that the NCC Guidelines have been revised regarding eligibility to sit for the NCC Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) certification exam. Effective 12/31/2022, all students will require 600 direct patient care clinical hours. Simulation hours will no longer be applied toward the NCC requirement. Previously up to 100 hours of simulation was permitted to be applied to the total number of clinical hours needed.
You may still use simulation to support clinical learning when students are not in clinical or supplement where needed. HOWEVER, SIMULATION WILL NOT BE LOGGED IN TYPHON.
Please coach students per the following guidelines and ensure that the MCE and FCE reflects this guidance accordingly:
You will DISCONTINUE documenting simulation (EFM, NRP, OCI, and other simulation) in Typhon EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY (there is no need to delete current simulation hours).
You will EXCLUDE all documented simulation hours in your NURO 6511, 7672, 7684, 8722 and/or 8727 Midterm Clinical Evaluation (MCE) and Final Clinical Evaluation (FCE).
Take stock of your non-simulation hours in Typhon and plan your clinical schedule moving forward accordingly.
Please note that you may be required to complete additional hours to meet the revised NCC requirement. If this is the case, please reach out to your CFA and Course Coordinator to develop a plan for completion.
All students must have a cumulative required minimum of 600 direct patient care WHNP ambulatory hours in order to satisfy program and NCC requirements.
