Supporting Students’ Mental Health and Well-Being
Supporting Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6
The Mental Health and Well-Being Team will develop resources to support social and emotional learning (SEL) through distance learning.
The resources will include mental health tips, activities, recorded SEL read aloud, recorded mini SEL lessons, and live events.
Child and Youth Workers will work closely with school administrators and educators to share the resources in a manner that best meets the needs of the school community.
Social media resources will be shared through the board website, school websites and school Facebook accounts.
The resources will also include weekly activities that teachers can share to continue supporting class-wide SEL programs.
Resources will also be provided for DSB1’s Continuity of Learning Resources webpage.
The Mental Health and Well-Being Team will follow up with the families that requested resources and inform them of where they can access them.
Supporting Students in Grades 7 to 12
Child and Youth Workers and Social Workers will provide follow-up mental health check-ins by telephone.
Audio only Microsoft Team meetings will be offered for students who do not have a phone.
Email can be used to book appointments.
Social media resources will be shared through the board website, school websites and school Facebook accounts.
The Mental Health and Well-Being Team is gathering information from DSB1’s Jack Chapters to explore the possibility of continuing their work to support student mental health and well-being. This work could be done virtually.
