The teacher, principal and family will troubleshoot the specific situation.
The following options can be explored to support students and families in accessing the weekly plans:
a) Is it possible for the family or student to access wifi somewhere else once per week? For example, is it possible for the family or student to go to a DSB1 school once per week and use the wifi in the parking lot?
Note: The weekly plan for the student might need to be modified because the student will use wifi to download the learning materials for the week. The intent is not for students to be doing homework in a parking lot.
b) For some families that are not able to access wifi once per week, a Bell Turbo Hub will be provided. This device uses cellular service to provide wifi.
c) If it is not possible for the family or student to access wifi using one of the above options, then hard copy packages will be prepared. Here are some considerations:
i) By 9 a.m. on Monday morning, teachers will email the school secretary the weekly plans that need to be prepared.
ii) On Monday morning, the school secretary will go into the school to print and prepare packages.
iii) Options for delivery of hard copies of weekly plans:
(1) Is it possible for the family to pick up hard copy packages on Mondays?
(2) Is there an interested staff member who might volunteer to drop off the packages at the home?
(3) A school bus could deliver the weekly plans every Monday.
iv) When the hard copy is delivered, the previous week’s work is collected as needed. The principal, secretary and teacher will determine how the completed student work will be delivered to the teacher.
