ZIPPY SPEEDY Roll and Read word family practice: These forms are also in you packet. Students roll a dice and read all the words in the line they rolled. If you don't have dice you could cut squares of cardboard and write the numbers 1-6 and students could pull a card and read that line. Practice until kids can quickly read all the words. These pages can be printed or enlarged in another window and read on the screen. There are 4 pages this week, so plan to do a page each day except Friday.
NAME TRACING PRINTABLES: Students should practice writing their name and
the numbers at least 2 times each day. They may also want to practice their friends' names!
Remember to spend a few minutes each day practicing sight word flashcards or reading sight word stories and to choose one page of Zippy, Speedy roll and read word families.

Phonics: practice the zoo phonics and one ZIPPY SPEEDY roll and write(see above or pages 5-8 in packet))
Writing: Do the tracing practice and the lowercase ABC's. This is page 3 and 4 of the yellow packet or printables.

Read: The puzzle stories with short vowels. Highlight words with short a sounds. Write numbers to order pictures.
Phonics: Watch the blend video and above and review the video with cut and paste directions. Do the pl,fl,gl blend sort (page 15 of packet/printables). Students can cut and sort if they want to, or they can read the big word, then draw a line to the blend in begins with. Then read each small word and draw a line to the picture that matches it.

Spelling test: Print the spelling test form. An adult orally gives spelling test. Child records words on the spelling test form (page 16 of printables or packet. Children should try to write 2 sentences on the bottom using a spelling word. Please mark incorrect words with an x and have students practice words they missed in their journal.

Scholastic News Article: Click the scholastic news link below. Find the "Future Voter" article from October 2020. watch the videos, click through vocabulary and then listen and read the article. Do all skill-building sheets at the bottom of the page. Games and activities are optional.
Homework: Submit a photo of test on Seesaw.
Read with an adult for 20 minutes. Practice sounding out and then "sliding" through words. Look for sight words that you know. Slowly slide though words you may have guessed to make sure the letters match the word(this is "cross-checking")

Zoo Phonics- Children should practice their letter names and sounds each day. Print the Zoo phonics chart to refer to when children are reading and writing. Watch the video to learn the actions that go with each letter. Then practice on your own to see how quickly children can remember and make the letter sounds.
