· This week (May 11-15) will be the last week of new work assignments.
· Thursday (May 14) will be an all-school Zoom Field Day. (No 10:00 class Zoom). Field day Zoom links can be found in the mass email from Seward Elementary
o 1st session, begins at 9:00, students’ last name begins with A-K
o 2nd session, begins at 10:30, students’ last name begins with L-Z
· Friday (May 15) will be materials drop-off day from 9-10 and 12-2. Families can drop off at any open time by driving through the parking lot and following posted directions. I plan to be there to wave to kids from 12-2. Send me a Dojo message when you come as I might be in my classroom!
o I NEED BACK: Chromebooks and chargers, Kindles and chargers, library books.
o I WILL TAKE BACK IF YOU DON’T WANT THEM: Cardboard book boxes, bags of shapes & coins. Work samples from certain students (see message below).
o WHAT YOU SHOULD KEEP: books, journals, worksheets already sent via Dojo, assigned work that I did not request to be turned in.
· Families who worked on alternative materials or who did not submit work on Dojo: please submit any work you would like me to include in 4th quarter grades by May 20th. You can send pictures by email or Dojo, or return work with devices on May 15. If your child participated Zoom meetings and submitted most assignments on Dojo, there is no need to send in additional work. Students will not receive a “low grade” for missing standards; I will simply leave standards blank to indicate that I was unable to asses them. Your child’s second grade teacher will cover standards that are left blank.
· During the last 3 days of school (May 18-20) we will not have zoom meetings and there will not be new assignments because many students will no longer have access to computers and Kindles. You could use this time to complete anything you would like to done before the end of the year (math review packet? unassigned pages for language arts? Projects from the integrated content page?). I will be available for anyone who wants my help!
· My website will stay up all summer for anyone who would like to use it.
· Let’s all do a victory dance, hope that we never have to do this again, but know that if we do WE CAN! Thank you so much for all the hard work that you put into your child’s education. Thank you so much for supporting me and putting up with me as I’ve tried to figure out how to approach teaching young kids remotely. And thank you so much for letting me be a part of your child’s life!
-Ms. Ryan
